Our Story

We believe every educator deserves to own a home.

DwellED was born in San Antonio from a simple conviction: the people who shape our children's futures shouldn't be priced out of the communities they serve.

Why DwellED Exists

San Antonio's educators are being priced out.

New teachers in Bexar County earn an average of $54,000 a year — a salary that, on paper, might seem workable. But with San Antonio home prices surging more than 40% since 2019, that income no longer stretches far enough to build real roots in the communities where these teachers work.

The result is long commutes, financial stress, and ultimately — teachers leaving. DwellED exists to break that cycle. By combining cooperative investment, lease-to-own structures, and personalized financial coaching, we create a path to homeownership that actually fits an educator's income and life.

We're not just building homes. We're building stability — for teachers, for families, and for the schools that depend on them.

What Drives Us

Mission, Vision & Purpose

Mission

Close the gap.

To close the homeownership gap for educators in San Antonio through innovative cooperative housing models that work within the reality of an educator's income.

Vision

A city that keeps its teachers.

A San Antonio where every educator can afford to live in the community they serve — and where homeownership is a realistic milestone, not a distant dream.

Purpose

Stable teachers. Stronger schools.

When teachers own homes in the neighborhoods where they teach, retention rises, communities strengthen, and children benefit. That virtuous cycle is what DwellED is building.
